Spark sat under the High Stone, talking with Ember. Most of the pack was out hunting or patrolling. It was the first nice day on ages. There was hardly a could in the sky, and a soft breeze wound its way through the clearing. The temperature, which had been hovering around the low forties for about a week, had finally risen to the mid-sixties. Spark was just about to suggest going hunting themselves, when a branch snapped loudly behind them. Spark looked around to see a big black wol step through. It was follwed by two more. The first two were male, but the third was female. The first male walked curiously into the clearing, glancing around casually as if this were his territory. The second looked around warily, as if he didn't trust the place. Finally the she-wolf padded in, gliding along smoothly. A cold air surrounded her, and Spark disliked her at once. She dind't trust her, either. Spark got up. "And who are you?" she demanded.
The first dog looked up. "That's none of your business, now is it-" he was cut off by the she-wolf.
"Now, that's no way to talk to your new leader, is it, Skeet?" she said coldly, in a slightly mocking tone. The male, Skeet, grumbled to himself, looking away. The other male didn't comment.
"Who are you?" Spark asked.
"Excuse us," the she-wolf said. "This is Skeet," she continued, indicating the wolf that had spoen first. "And that is Shiver," she added, nodding towards the smaller male. She introduced him with an air of contempt. "And they cll me Dima. We are here to join your pack." She looked around, as if wondering where the other dogs were.
Spark didn't like them. But she couldn't say no, could she? She had let in all the other dogs... "Why do you want to join?" she asked, stalling for time to think.
Dima answered, "Wolves need a pack to belong to, don't they, Spark? We are just some innocent rogues who need a pack. Won't you let us join?" Her voice was laced with coldness, as if she'd rather be anywhere else.
"How do you know my name?" Spark wondered.
This seemed to unnerve Dima for a second, But she was a quick-thinker. "I heard you and Ember talking," she replied smoothly.
Spark was not convinced, but didn't say more. She turned to Ember, who shrugged. "Excuse us," she said, and turned to confirm with him out of earshot. "Should we let them join?" she asked him.
"I don't think we can denie it to them..." he murmured. "Too bad Ice is out patrolling," he added.
"Yes, hmmm..." Spark thought for a moment, gazing out over Ember. Suddenly Echo appeared out of the forest, a rabbit clamped between his jaws. He was heading toward tehe freshkill pile when he noticed the three black wolves. He froze. The rabbit fwll to the ground from his slack jaw, and he started to tremble. Even from this distance Spark could tell he was suddenly terrified. He suddenly unfroze, grabbed the rabbit, and bolted towards the freshkill pile to drop the rabbit off, the swiftly reentered the woods. Spark cocked her head, confused. Ember hadn't seen it, and he glanced behind him when he noticed Spark staring, but Echo had already gone.
"What is it?" he asked. Spark didn't respond. She turned back to the newcomers.
"You may join," she announced stiffly. I will announce it to the pack later tonight.
"Thank you," Dima said, sneering. She lead Shiver and Skeet in towards the freshkill pile, where they helped themselves generously to the prey there.
"When Ice comes back, tell her to keep a keen eye on them," she told Ember quietly, then settled down to watch them for herself.
(The top picture is Dima, the she-wolf. The second down is Skeet, and then Shiver, the two males.)
She noticed Echo from the back of her eyes but she darted up to Shiver. "Hiya!" she barked loudly and bent down to sniff his head then crinkled her nose "YUCK! You smell just like those pups!" she rubbed her nose into a clump of melted snow pawing at it dramaticly, drawing atention from all over the clearing
ReplyDelete~Puff
Usin his keen nose her smelled a horrible smell that the pups shared with the new comers...he wrinkled his nose and padded swiftly away using his nose and whiskers to guide him.
~Sleet
Star padded in with a thrush in her mouth. She dropped it on the fresh-kill pile and glanced warily at the newcomers. "Who are they?", she whispered to Puff. "And why is Echo freaking out?"
ReplyDelete~Star
*Night glared at the three newcomers and whispered to Snow and Timber* you two star far away from those wolves *TImber nodded and she glanced at Brambles and he stood there his eyes wide and scaredand he whispered to Noght* Are they?............ *nigth sighed* who knows:? (I am making Night and Brambles from that place cause you know I have my reasons ;P) Luna and Moona looked confused Luna whispered* Moona why are Night and Brambles freaking out? the three newcomers are just wolves!
ReplyDelete(Night, you always have your reasons! ;D)
ReplyDeleteShiver jumped, suddenly a young dog was right in front of him!
"YUCK! You smell just like those pups!" she cried, and proceeded to wiping her nose off dramatically. He selfconsciously sniffed himself. He thought he smelled fine.
He glared at the young shewolf. She was so full of herself. He was older than her! But he was always treated like an inferior.
He growled quietly and walked away, into the forest.
~Shiver
Dima was observing the camp ways. A black dog appeared to be blind, but he made his way across the clearing just fine. The trainees were wrestling playfully together, while the warriors talked amongst themselves. She promised herself she would memorize their schedule. It could come in handy some day soon...
~Dima
Skeet glared around the camp, daring anyone to come up to him. But he wasn't always so shifty. He had only just been promoted to a full...he longed to play with the trainees! He watched from a distance.
~Skeet
Star walked tentatively up to Skeet. "Where did youcome from?", she asked. "You smell like Frock and Surry."
ReplyDelete~Star
She looked up "Hmm maybe I should be so loud..." she shurged and loped over to Kisharu. She pounced onto her back and werselted her to the ground
ReplyDelete~Puff
"Get off you big lump!" she growled and flicked Puff off her back.
~Kisharu
"Sooooooorrrrreeeey!" she howled and loped over to Star and Skeet "Hiya!" she said but this time she didnt take a big sniff, she knew she would get the same awful smell.
~Puff
Skeet also looked startled. The dogs here were so abrupt, but friendly!
ReplyDelete"Hello," he said slowly. Where he came from, snapping at someone's ear was a greeting-you always had to be ready. That didn't seem appropriate here. He didn't know what else to say. "My name's Skeet. Who are you?"
"My name is Star, and this is Puff. We're both trainees."No recognition showed on Skeet's face, and Star said, "You know, trainees, in training to be full members of the pack, and eventually trainers."
ReplyDelete~Star
"Oh," said Skeet sadly. Where he came from trainees were subject to harsh requirements and worse punishments. "That stinks."
ReplyDelete~Skeet
(haha I don't know what to say!)
*Night and Brambles glared at Skeet then Shiver then at Dima and Night murmered* BRambles I think they might trying to plan an attack on us we have to warn Spark *Brambles nodded and they wwalked off to find Spark*
ReplyDelete"That skinks?" she smiled her furry cheeks poking up "Not as much as you! But your sent will mix with ours right?" she looked at Skeet up and down "Boy,you sure are small! Are you a trainee or a trainer?" she looked at him again "WHOAH! Did you just like grow?!" the hackles on Skeets ck were rising "Oh...your angry aren't you? Star...Ill meet up with you later..." she scurried away and hid behind Echo's leg whimpering softly like a puppy.
ReplyDelete~Puff
Skeet's hackles rose. He was certainly bigger than this little puppy! But he felt guilty when she ran from him, hiding behind another dog's leg.
ReplyDelete~Skeet
Echo looked surprised. Puff hid behind him. He quickly scented the air, to see if the black dogs were following. They weren't. He could see their shadowy forms through the forest. "What is it,Puff?" He knew it had something to do with them. Those black dogs. Suddenly he stiffened, and a memory flash before him.
A young pup stood before him, cowering against the ground. It was dark, but the sun was still out. The thick pine trees obscured the sun. The pup was shaking in terror. Suddenly the perspective changed, and he saw a huge black wolf standing over the little pup, snarling threateningly. He put his paw on the pup, and the pup let out a pitiful screech. The wolf laughed in triumph, and lowered his head for the kill...suddenly another black dog sprang out of the trees, head-butting the wolf. He whimpered, the wind knocked out of him. He stumbled to his feet, but was visciously attacked by the newcomer, who snapped at his heels, his tail, his ears. She growled, "Stay away from my pup, you disgusting piece of foxdung, or I swear I'll rip you to pieces. The black wolf looked mocking at first, but then relized the shewolf was serious, and turned-tail to run into the forest, his black coat disappearing into the shadows.
The shewolf turned back to the pup on the ground, and quickly walked over..."Are you alright?" she asked, and started licking him...
But then the vision was gone, and Echo was back in the familiar forest. He glanced down, surprised to see Puff still looking up at him with wide eyes.
But that little puppy had looed familiar...
His black back and brown flanks made Echo think...
She shook and shivered "T-t-t-that d-d-d-d-d-d-do-dog i-is ve-very mea-mean!" she sturrted out then looked around widely as if every shadow was Skeet. She looked up at him "So he's a trainer right?" she said ruefully.
ReplyDelete~Puff
Light looked at the three new wolves. She tilted her head at her packs reaction to them. She walked over to Puff and Echo. "Puff, why is everyone freaking out about them?" She nodded her head towards the newcomers.
ReplyDelete~Light
Echo nodded solemnly to Puff, still deep in thought. He crouched down to be at eye level with her. "I don't think, where they come from, they are called trainers," he said. "But don't go near them. I don't trust them..."
ReplyDelete~Echo
She looked at his yellowish eyes and nodded quickly "I-I-I wont!" she vowed. She stood up shakily and ruffled her pelt. She sighed quietly and trotted over to the trainee den
ReplyDelete~Puff
He stood frozen in the clearing. The dogs! He knew them! He trembled in fear, cowering as the conversation between them and the other dogs took place. He crouched low on the ground in submission and tucked his tail tightly under his belly. He whimpered and limpped to his own den as if some dog had hit him.
~Raven
Star looked up from her thrush and around the clearing. Half of the dogs looked scared out of their wits, and the other half looked as if they wanted to tear the newcomers apart. I guess I just want them to leave..., Star thought
ReplyDeleteShe noticed the dog and Puff and Echo. She growled to herself, she going to have to go saw something. She sauntered up to the dog named Skeet. "Look mongrel, don't mess with ANY dogs here. Espesically Puff! Just back off and don't be mean to any other dogs if you know whats good for you." she flicked her busky red and white tail in Puff direction and troted briskly away
ReplyDelete~Kisharu
