Winter Storm
Once again Spark jumps up to the Hgh Stone. A cool breeze ruffles her fur. She howls, calling her pack to her. "ThunderPack! I bring news that I must share with you all. Ember, my brother, is very knowledgable when it comes to the weather. He just informed me that there is a terrible blizzard on the way! It will strike in two days and will last for several. The snow will pile high, covering us. So we must prepare! I want the hunting parties to double. Mernen, you lead one party past the river, and Rain, lead one over by FiercePack's territory. Be careful not to cross the border, though. We will stock up on freshkill, so we will not starve in the snow. When it does hit, we will dig snow caves. Ember and I used to have to deal with blizzards all the time, and we know what to do. The caves will provide shelter from the winds. Now, get hunting! Meeting dismissed!"

Iceblaze kept walking.
ReplyDeleteJust then she smelled something. "Dusk?" She asked.
"Yes. Im getting prepared for a storm Trespas...Iceblaze!" She barcked in joy. Suddenly she smelled something else.
"Iceblaze hid! My leader would kill me if he saw you!" She growled.
She listened to the patrol of dogs. "Never smelled that stench before." one said.
"And its in our territory." Said another. *uh oh! They found me* Iceblace thought.
Slowly one of the wolves walked up to the tree se was hiding behind.

Ember led his border patrol towards Fiercepack territory. Suddenly he scented something.
ReplyDelete"I'vre never smelled that stench before," Blaze commented. But Emeber didn't answer right away. He thought he had...but where? Then it struck him. FiercePack! When he had gone with Spark to introduce themselves!
"And it's on our territory," he finally growled. He walked out from behind a tree to see Dusk and another dog, with FiercePack sent. He growled.
"What is going on here?"

ReplyDeleteLeo ruffled his fur, biting back the cold. "When will be green leaf again?" He muttered. (if thats what they call it in dog language...)
Cleo snorted. "Be patient Leo." She said gruffly to her brother. To Creek she added. "I want you to train with me, meet me by the river." She ordered. Her trainee nodded and went into her den.
(Leo and Cleo are brothers. And can Cleo be Creeks trainer?)
"Um...I was exspoloring. Can't I explore?" Iceblaze asked offensinvly.
ReplyDeleteDusk looked at her. "You smell like FiercePack!" She whispered.
"Ok well... umm....my name is Iceblaze and Im exploring IcePack territory. you see umm well. Nevermind." She said. She bolteed to the border and crossed before one of the strange wolves could grab her bty the leg.

She wondered around thoughtlessly. "Humm humm de dum" she bumped into a couple of things but kept wandering.

He skirted the learing to join Mernen's patrol.

Ember thought about following her, but she seemed harmless enough. He would definitely tell Spark about it though. He turned then to Dusk.
ReplyDelete"Was she about to attack?" he questioned. He couldn't figure out why Dusk hadn't been more upset about a trespasser.

Spark watched Puff's progress with silent amusement. She hoped Rain would be able to keep her focused long enough to learn. But she though Puff remeinded her alot of herself when she was younger: playful, careless...Now she had the weight of a growing pack on her shoulders. Maybe she should have just let Ember take over...But no. This was her destiny.

"No, Ember. She is a old friend of mine." She replied. "She is from a pack called IcePack. You and FeircePack arnt the only packs. She continued.
ReplyDelete"She...she...she knows my sister too." She said. She picked up her herbs and walked back to camp. She had to find some way to sneak out at night.
She veered off to the left and hid the burdock root behind a bush. Noone had seen her.

Ember sensed that Dusk was hiding something, but let it slide. And this new information about other packs intrigued him. He would tell Spark about that, too. He continued to lead his patrol on to remark the borders.
ReplyDelete"Good job Creek." Cleo said to her trainee, who had just caught a Red Snapper. "Now lets see how good you are in the undergrowth.."
ReplyDeleteAfter Creek had caught a rabbit and two voles, Cleo let her go and spend the rest of the day by herself. Creek raced up to Puff to say hello.
ReplyDelete"Ah!" she sheirked when she bumbed into a sharp pointy tree "Ow" she sat down and looked at a pointy throrn in her paw "Hummm" she clampped her jaws onto it and pulled. "Owww!" she cried and threw her head up in a howl "Owwwww owwww owwww!" she howled. She saw Creek looking at her "Oh...Hi? How long have you been thier?" she said looking around the clearing

Hs snorted listening to Puffs progress. He was blind since birth and he hadnt been that clumsy when he was a pup!

Creek tilted her head, as if she didn't understand. But then spoke calmly. "Only a few minutes." She replied, her river blue eyes sparkling.

Spark lept up to the High Stone again, howling. "Ember has just returned with his border patrol, and he brings news! A strange dog was seen on our borders, and she appeared ti be little confused. But Dusk told us that there are other packs in the forest. I say we try to locate them, and speak witrh them, to develop friendly relations. ut first, moreimmediant dangers. Ember also alerted me that the snows will start tonight! When it starts to snow, it will be only flurries, but quickly escalate to blizzard standards. Don't be fooled. Come immediately to the High Stone when it starts to snow, and I will tell you all what to do. And we also have a new trainee! Star will be mentored by Mernen. Teach her all you know, Mernen. That is all, meeting dismissed!"

"Oh" she blushed (or whatver dogs do)"Did I do anything embarassing? I tend to do that...Or so Sleet has told me...I never really know or feel what im doing...So yeah...What were we talking about?" she tilted her head and thought hard.

"Yes!", Star barked. "Where do we go for training?"
